Questions About Faith

How can I know if I'm truly saved?
The Bible provides several ways to recognize saving faith in your life. First, believers experience the peace that comes from knowing their sins are forgiven through Christ’s sacrifice on the cross. The Holy Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). You’ll also notice a growing desire to follow God’s Word, pray, and fellowship with other Christians. While doubt may arise from time to time, this is normal in the Christian life. The key is to rest in God’s promise that those who believe in Jesus have eternal life.
Christianity is unique because it’s based on grace rather than works. While other religious systems require people to earn their way to heaven through good deeds or moral behavior, Christianity teaches that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone. The New Testament clearly explains that we cannot save ourselves only Jesus, who is both fully God and fully man, could pay the price for sin. The resurrection of Jesus from the dead sets Christianity apart, proving His divinity and validating His claims about eternal life.
Suffering is a reality in our fallen world, but the Bible provides comfort and understanding. The book of Job shows that suffering isn’t always a result of personal sin sometimes God allows trials to strengthen our faith or bring glory to His name. Romans 8:28 promises that God works all things together for good for those who love Him. Jesus Himself suffered on the cross, so He understands our pain. The Holy Spirit comforts us in our troubles, and we have the hope of Heaven, where there will be no more suffering, death, or chaos.
Understanding God’s Word requires both study and the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Start with prayer, asking God to give you wisdom and insight. Begin with the New Testament, particularly the Gospel of John, to learn about Jesus Christ. Use study tools like concordances and commentaries to explore the Greek text and historical context. Join a Bible study group where you can learn from other believers and ask questions. Regular reading, even just one chapter per week, builds familiarity with biblical themes and promises.
The Holy Spirit is the third person of the Trinity who dwells within every believer from the moment of salvation. The Spirit guides us into truth, convicts us of sin, and empowers us to live the Christian life. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit would teach us all and bring His words to remembrance. The Spirit produces fruit in our lives love, joy, peace, patience, and other godly characteristics. He also gives spiritual gifts to believers for serving in the church and reaching the world with the gospel.
Sharing your faith starts with living it authentically. Your friend should see the difference Christ has made in your life. When opportunities arise for conversation, listen to their questions without being defensive. Share your personal testimony of how Jesus transformed your life. Use simple, clear language rather than religious jargon. Be patient salvation is the Holy Spirit’s work, not yours. Study the Bible so you can give thoughtful answers to their questions. Most importantly, show them the love and grace of Christ through your actions and words.

Consider giving your time and talents through volunteer service this is equally valuable to our ministry. Small, consistent gifts, when possible, are appreciated, but your participation in our community matters more than your financial contribution. Our church family is here to support you during difficult times, not add to your burden.
